The mission of the department supports the empowerment of Teslin Tlingit people to achieve their greatest education and training potential while maintaining pride in Tlingit identity, language, and culture.

Programs and Services

Community Training Officer
Administers the Aboriginal Human Resource Development Sub-Agreement (HRDC) and utilizes Financial Transfer Agreement dollars to supplement the Post-Secondary Program (DIAND).
Education Support
Education support for Kindergarten to grade 9 (Teslin) and for grade 10 to 12 students attending secondary schools in Whitehorse.
Culture and Language
The revival, retention and promotion of the Tlingit language in conjunction with cultural programs and activities.
Youth Guidance
Youth counseling services to support the intellectual, social and career development of youth.


Johnston Town–Summer 2003


During the first week of June 2003, fifty-six students, parents and teachers traveled down Teslin Lake and stayed at historic Johnston Town for the annual Teslin School outdoors event.

The Teslin Tlingit Council encourages Teslin Tlingit citizens to visit and use their traditional territory in northern British Columbia.
