Ha Kus Teyea Celebration 2011

As a self-governing First Nation, one of our primary focuses has been the promotion of Tlingit culture. Building on the success of the Ha Kus Teyea Celebration 2009, the Teslin Tlingit Heritage Centre saw four days of celebration with representatives from across the Tlingit world. Cultural demonstrations, an artists’ market, traditional performances and dancing complemented a packed schedule of events. Each evening saw the three Inland Tlingit Nations – Teslin Tlingit Council, Taku River Tlingit First Nation, and Carcross/Tagish First Nation – taking it in turns to host a traditional feast for over one thousand guests. The Celebration ended with a grand exit and parade starting on the shores of Teslin Lake, with everyone's minds looking forward to the next Inland Tlingit Celebration, planned for 2013.
