Post-Secondary Education
The Workforce Development Department works with the Teslin Post-Secondary Education and Training Committee (TETC) to administer post-secondary education assistance and bring about awareness of post-secondary opportunities. The Workforce Development Department provides support and encouragement to meet the post-secondary education needs of students.
Funding for Post-Secondary Education
TTC offers supplementary funding for Citizens attending post-secondary education. The funding is available to supplement students’ financial sponsorship from other funding sources such as Human Resource and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), Yukon Government (YG), bursaries, and scholarships. TTC Funding
For all Teslin Tlingit Council citizens attending a summer or fall semester at a recognized post secondary institution:
Applications for student financial assistance will be accepted up to 5:00 PM on May 15, 2014. Any late applications will be deferred to the next intake date in November.

Yukon Grant
Applications for the Yukon Government Education Grant must be received no later than 6 weeks after classes have started. For information on how to apply, visit www.education.gov.yk.ca/advanceded/sfa/grant.html
Yukon Training Allowance
Applications for the Training Allowance must be in no later than 14 days after classes have begun. For more information, visit www.education.gov.yk.ca/advanceded/sfa/training.html
Yukon Excellence Awards
Yukon resident students who attain a test score of 80% or higher on B.C. Provincial Exams in a Yukon School are eligible for an award. Students will be notified by the Department of Education.
University Specific Scholarships and Bursaries
Colleges and universities offer and administer a wide variety of scholarships and bursaries for students learning trades and pursuing degrees. Teslin Tlingit students planning to continue their education are encouraged to apply for these funds. Canada Student Grants

Canada Student Loans
Students may also apply for Canada student loans. For more information on Government of Canada student loans and application forms, visit www.canlearn.ca
Other funding
Many service clubs, professional associations and large local companies offer scholarships as well that may be linked to a student’s interests. Consult your school counselor or visit the Whitehorse Public Library for more information on what is available locally.
